What is the school calendar for the 2010-2011 school year?

The first day of school will be Tuesday, August 11, 2010.  The complete 2010-11 calendar can be found here.

What time does school begin and end?

The doors to the school open at 6:50 am.  This is the same time that students are unloaded from their buses.  School is slated to be dismissed at 2:05 pm.

How will I know what bus to ride?

This information can be found using the BCPS School and Bus Finder.  Simply type in your street name and click "Submit."

What materials will I need for school?

The school supply list for the 2010-11 school year can be found here (when available).

What is the current school dress code?

The dress code for the 2009-10 school year can be found here (when available).

What classes will I have?

Every student will have English, Science, Math (Algebra I, or Algebra II), and Social Studies (Civics & Geography or JROTC).  Students will also have Elective classes.  Student schedules will be made available at Freshman Orientation on August 2, 2010.

At what times will my classes start and end?

What is the current grading scale?

How often will I receive grades?

Students will receive a report card once each none-week term.  Students will also receive midterm grade reports for each grading period.

What do I need to pass to the next grade level?

Students need to pass all of their classes all of the time.  Every effort is made to help students succeed in every class.  A credit recovery program is in place to help each student meet the standards set by the state of Kentucky.  Additional information about classes required for graduation can be found in the Student Handbook.

Will I have a locker?

All students at BCHS are issued a locker during the first week of school.  Most students will have to share a locker.  Only the students assigned to a particular locker are allowed to use it.  This is important in order to maintain security.  However, it is recommended that you not use your locker to store items of value such as purses, MP3 players, etc.

Am I allowed to have a backpack?

Backpacks are allowed at BCHS.

Am I allowed to bring MP3 players or cell phones to school?

This is strongly discouraged.  Any such devices brought to school remain the responsibility of the student.  They are to remain out of sight at all times.  These items will be confiscated if they are seen or used at school.
